Ofoklin 200 Tablet contains Ofloxacin 200 mg, a broad-spectrum fluoroquinolone antibiotic effective against a wide range of bacterial infections. It functions by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, enzymes essential for DNA replication, transcription, repair, and recombination, thereby preventing bacterial cell division and growth. Ofoklin 200 is commonly prescribed for treating respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, gastrointestinal infections, and certain sexually transmitted infections caused by susceptible strains of bacteria.

The tablet is indicated for adult patients and should be used according to the susceptibility of the causative organism and clinical judgment. It is important to complete the full prescribed course to prevent the development of resistance. Ofloxacin is generally well tolerated; however, potential adverse effects include gastrointestinal disturbances such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, central nervous system effects like dizziness and headache, and hypersensitivity reactions.
Caution is advised in patients with a history of tendon disorders related to fluoroquinolones, and it is contraindicated in individuals with known hypersensitivity to ofloxacin or other quinolones. Ofoklin 200 should be used with caution in patients with renal impairment, and dose adjustment may be necessary. It is essential to avoid concurrent use with certain drugs that may interact and increase the risk of adverse effects.
