Oflowin OZ Tablet is a combination antibiotic formulation containing Ofloxacin 200 mg and Ornidazole 500 mg, designed for the treatment of mixed bacterial and protozoal infections. Ofloxacin, a fluoroquinolone antibiotic, exerts its effect by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, thereby preventing bacterial replication and leading to cell death. Ornidazole, a nitroimidazole derivative, is effective against anaerobic bacteria and protozoa by disrupting DNA synthesis and causing cell death.

This synergistic combination is particularly useful in treating infections of the gastrointestinal tract, genitourinary system, respiratory tract, skin and soft tissue, and intra-abdominal infections where both aerobic and anaerobic pathogens are suspected. Oflowin OZ is indicated for conditions such as bacterial gastroenteritis, amoebiasis, trichomoniasis, pelvic inflammatory disease, and mixed aerobic-anaerobic infections.
The tablet should be administered as prescribed by a healthcare professional, with dosage adjusted according to the severity of infection and patient-specific factors. Caution is advised in patients with hypersensitivity to fluoroquinolones or nitroimidazoles, and it is contraindicated in pregnancy and lactation. Adverse effects may include gastrointestinal disturbances, dizziness, and hypersensitivity reactions.
