OC-Plus Tablet is a combination antibiotic formulation containing Cefixime 200 mg and Ofloxacin 200 mg, designed for the treatment of a broad spectrum of bacterial infections. Cefixime, a third-generation cephalosporin, acts by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to cell lysis and death, while Ofloxacin, a fluoroquinolone, inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, preventing DNA replication and transcription. This synergistic combination enhances antibacterial efficacy against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative pathogens. OC-Plus is indicated for infections such as urinary tract infections, respiratory tract infections, gastrointestinal infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and sexually transmitted infections caused by susceptible organisms. The tablet should be administered orally with or without food, as prescribed by a healthcare professional, typically for 7 to 14 days depending on the severity and type of infection. Caution is advised in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to cephalosporins, fluoroquinolones, or other beta-lactam antibiotics. Potential side effects include gastrointestinal disturbances, headache, dizziness, and hypersensitivity reactions.
