Sulbactam, a beta-lactamase inhibitor, enhances the efficacy of Meropenem by preventing enzymatic degradation of the antibiotic, thereby extending its spectrum against beta-lactamase-producing bacteria. The inclusion of EDTA serves as a chelating agent, potentially improving antimicrobial activity by disrupting bacterial biofilms and enhancing drug penetration. Nutraferon Ecomeron-S EDTA Injection is indicated for complicated intra-abdominal infections, severe lower respiratory tract infections, complicated urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and septicemia caused by susceptible organisms.
It is administered intravenously under medical supervision, with dosage adjusted according to infection severity, renal function, and patient response. Caution is advised in patients with known hypersensitivity to carbapenems, penicillins, or beta-lactamase inhibitors.
