Mucotab Tablets contain 600mg of Acetylcysteine, a mucolytic agent. It works by breaking down thick mucus in the respiratory tract, making it easier to expel. Mucotab is indicated for the symptomatic treatment of viscous bronchial secretions in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), acute bronchitis, and tracheobronchitis. It is also used to prevent and treat acetaminophen-induced hepatotoxicity. The recommended dose is one to two tablets every 4 hours, not exceeding 24 tablets in 24 hours. Mucotab should be used with caution in patients with a history of asthma, and it should not be administered to children under 2 years of age unless specifically directed by a physician.
