Ketorolac (0.4% w/v) + Moxifloxacin (0.5% w/v)
Active composition
+1 more active ingredient
Ketorolac inhibits cyclooxygenase enzymes, leading to decreased production of prostaglandins, which mediate pain and inflammation.
Moxifloxacin inhibits DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, disrupting bacterial DNA replication and transcription.
Medical applications
Moxidrop-KT Eye Drop is a sterile, preserved-free, and pH-adjusted aqueous solution containing ketorolac tromethamine 0.4% w/v and moxifloxacin 0.5% w/v. This ophthalmic solution is designed to treat inflammation and reduce ocular pain in patients with postoperative ocular inflammation, including cataract surgery and conjunctivitis. The combination of ketorolac and moxifloxacin provides a synergistic effect in reducing inflammation and preventing bacterial infection. Ketorolac, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agent, effectively inhibits prostaglandin synthesis, thereby reducing inflammation and pain. Moxifloxacin, a fluoroquinolone antibiotic, selectively targets gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, inhibiting DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, thereby preventing bacterial replication. Moxidrop-KT Eye Drop is administered as 1-2 drops in the affected eye(s) up to four times daily, with dosing intervals not to exceed 4 hours. The recommended duration of treatment is up to 14 days. Moxidrop-KT Eye Drop is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to either active ingredient.
