Clavulanic Acid (11.4mg) + Amoxycillin (80mg)
Active composition
+1 more active ingredient
Amoxycillin inhibits the synthesis of peptidoglycan in bacterial cell walls, leading to cell lysis and death.
Medical applications
Moxclav Paediatric Drops is a palatable, strawberry-flavored suspension containing a fixed dose combination of Amoxycillin (80mg) and Clavulanic Acid (11.4mg) per 5ml. This antimicrobial agent is indicated for the treatment of infections caused by susceptible strains of Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae, and Moraxella catarrhalis. The drops are intended for oral administration, typically 2.5ml (40mg Amoxycillin) every 8 hours, not exceeding 15mg Amoxycillin per kilogram body weight per day. Infections such as pharyngitis, tonsillitis, and otitis media are commonly treated with Moxclav Paediatric Drops. The antibiotic mechanism of Amoxycillin is enhanced by the presence of Clavulanic Acid, which inhibits beta-lactamase enzymes, thereby expanding the antimicrobial spectrum of the combination. Moxclav Paediatric Drops should only be used in pediatric patients who have developed a serious infection caused by a susceptible pathogen. The product is contraindicated in patients with a known hypersensitivity to either Amoxycillin or Clavulanic Acid.
How can I give Moxclav Paediatric Drops to my child? Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use.
