Moxclav DS 457mg Tablet is a fixed-dose combination antibiotic product containing amoxycillin (400mg) and clavulanic acid (57mg). It is indicated for the treatment of bacterial infections, including pneumonia, otitis media, sinusitis, and upper respiratory tract infections, as well as skin and soft tissue infections. Amoxycillin, a beta-lactam antibiotic, inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to penicillin-binding proteins, while clavulanic acid, a beta-lactamase inhibitor, inactivates beta-lactamase enzymes, thereby preserving the antibacterial activity of amoxycillin. The combination exhibits synergistic activity against a wide range of bacteria, including Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae, and Moraxella catarrhalis. The tablet is administered orally, and the dosage regimen should be determined by the patient's age, weight, and severity of the infection. Moxclav DS 457mg Tablet is contraindicated in patients with a history of allergy to any component of the product, and caution is advised in patients with renal or hepatic impairment.
