Active composition
+1 more active ingredient
Amoxycillin inhibits the synthesis of peptidoglycan in bacterial cell walls, leading to cell lysis and death.
Medical applications
Moxclav 625 Tablet is a fixed-dose combination product containing amoxycillin (500mg) and clavulanic acid (125mg) in a single tablet. It is indicated for the treatment of infections caused by susceptible bacteria, including respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and meningitis. Amoxycillin, a beta-lactam antibiotic, inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to penicillin-binding proteins, thereby preventing the synthesis of peptidoglycan. Clavulanic acid, a beta-lactamase inhibitor, irreversibly binds to and inactivates beta-lactamase enzymes, effectively neutralizing their ability to degrade beta-lactam antibiotics. The combination of amoxycillin and clavulanic acid provides enhanced antibacterial activity against a wide range of pathogens, including beta-lactamase-producing strains. Moxclav 625 Tablet is available in tablet form for oral administration, and its use is recommended in adults and children above six months of age.
