Medical applications
Mostcef-CV Tablet is a fixed-dose combination of Cefpodoxime Proxetil and Clavulanic Acid, indicated for the treatment of mild to moderate infections caused by susceptible microorganisms. Cefpodoxime Proxetil, a third-generation cephalosporin, exerts bactericidal activity against a broad spectrum of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, including Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae, Moraxella catarrhalis, and Escherichia coli. Clavulanic Acid, a beta-lactamase inhibitor, enhances the activity of Cefpodoxime Proxetil by blocking the action of beta-lactamases, thereby protecting against bacterial resistance. The combination effectively treats infections such as upper respiratory tract infections, otitis media, sinusitis, and pharyngitis. The tablet is available in a once-daily dose of 200mg Cefpodoxime Proxetil and 125mg Clavulanic Acid. Adverse reactions are generally mild and self-limiting, with the most common being diarrhea, headache, and abdominal pain.
