The mechanism of action involves the relaxation of vascular smooth muscle, leading to increased blood flow to the ischemic myocardium. Monotrate OD Tablet PR is contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to Isosorbide Mononitrate, and caution should be exercised in patients with hypovolemia, hypertension, or hypotension. Common side effects include headache, flushing, dizziness, and nausea.
The recommended dose is one tablet taken twice daily, ideally at morning and evening meals.
