Monotax XP 1000mg/125mg Injection is a broad-spectrum, third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic indicated for the treatment of a wide range of bacterial infections, including pneumonia, septicemia, urinary tract infections, and skin and soft tissue infections. The product contains a fixed dose combination of ceftriaxone (1000mg) and tazobactam (125mg) in a single vial. Ceftriaxone, a beta-lactam antibiotic, inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to the penicillin-binding proteins, thereby disrupting bacterial cell wall formation. Tazobactam, a beta-lactamase inhibitor, prevents the action of beta-lactamases, enzymes produced by bacteria to inactivate beta-lactam antibiotics. The combination exhibits synergistic activity against a broad spectrum of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, including methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Escherichia coli.
