Monit OD 50mg Tablet is a prescription medication containing Isosorbide Mononitrate as the active ingredient, used to manage the symptoms of angina pectoris. This medication belongs to the class of nitrates, which work by relaxing and dilating the blood vessels, thereby reducing the frequency and severity of anginal episodes. The recommended dose is one tablet, to be taken orally, once daily, with or without food. The onset of action typically occurs within 30 minutes to 1 hour, with the maximum effect seen within 2-4 hours. The duration of action is up to 8 hours. Monit OD 50mg Tablet is contraindicated in patients with a known hypersensitivity to Isosorbide Mononitrate or other nitrates, as well as in patients with recent myocardial infarction, cerebrovascular accident, or unstable angina. Concomitant use with phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors, such as Sildenafil, Tadalafil, or Vardenafil, is also contraindicated. As with any medication, patients should be closely monitored for signs of hypotension, headache, and flushing, as these may be indicative of overdosage.
