Cefixime (400mg)
Active composition
Cefixime disrupts the synthesis of the bacterial cell wall, leading to bacterial lysis and death.
Medical applications
Milixim 400 Tablet is a prescription medication containing 400mg of Cefixime, a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic. It is indicated for the treatment of mild to moderate infections caused by susceptible strains of microorganisms, including Streptococcus pyogenes, Haemophilus influenzae, Moraxella catarrhalis, and Escherichia coli. The medicine is also effective against Staphylococcus aureus, including methicillin-resistant strains (MRSA). Cefixime inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to the penicillin-binding proteins, thereby preventing the cross-linking of peptidoglycan chains. This leads to the death of the bacterial cell. The typical dosage of Milixim 400 Tablet is one tablet every 12 hours for 7 to 14 days, or as directed by a physician. The medicine should be taken with a full glass of water and may be taken with or without food. The most common adverse reactions include diarrhea, headache, and stomach upset. Milixim 400 Tablet is contraindicated in patients with a history of allergic reactions to cephalosporins or penicillins. It is also contraindicated in patients with renal impairment, as the medicine is primarily excreted through the kidneys.
