Medical applications
Miliclav Forte Syrup is a combination antibacterial product containing amoxycillin, a semisynthetic penicillin, and clavulanic acid, a beta-lactamase inhibitor, in combination with Lactobacillus, a probiotic. This syrup is indicated for the treatment of various bacterial infections such as pharyngitis, tonsillitis, bronchitis, pneumonia, and sinusitis caused by susceptible organisms. Amoxycillin, a broad-spectrum antibiotic, inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis, whereas clavulanic acid prevents the action of beta-lactamase enzymes, thereby enhancing the antibacterial activity of amoxycillin. Lactobacillus, a live probiotic, helps maintain the balance of gut flora and has been shown to have immunomodulatory effects. The syrup is available in a sweet, fruity flavor and is suitable for children and adults. The recommended dose is 10-20 mL, three to four times a day, for a duration of 7-10 days. Miliclav Forte Syrup is contraindicated in patients with a history of allergic reactions to penicillin or other beta-lactam antibiotics, and in those with a proven or suspected Clostridium difficile infection.
