Mignar 50 Tablet is a prescription medication containing miglitol, a synthetic alpha-glucosidase inhibitor, used in the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. It is indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adult patients with type 2 diabetes. Mignar 50 Tablet works by delaying the digestion and absorption of carbohydrates, thereby reducing the postprandial increase in blood glucose concentrations.

The recommended dose is 50 mg three times daily, taken before meals. Mignar 50 Tablet should be used in combination with a balanced diet and regular exercise to achieve optimal blood glucose control. It is important to note that miglitol is not a substitute for insulin therapy and may not be suitable for patients with type 1 diabetes or those who require insulin therapy. Patients with a history of gastrointestinal disorders, such as gastrointestinal obstruction, should be monitored closely for any adverse effects.
The most common adverse reactions include gastrointestinal disturbances, such as diarrhea, abdominal pain, and flatulence. As with any medication, Mignar 50 Tablet should be used with caution and under the close supervision of a healthcare provider.
