Metviron Trio 1 Tablet ER is a fixed-dose combination product containing glimepiride (1mg), metformin (500mg), and voglibose (0.2mg) designed to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus. This oral antihyperglycemic agent is intended for once-daily administration. Glimepiride, a sulfonylurea, stimulates insulin secretion and enhances glucose-dependent insulin secretion, while metformin, a biguanide, reduces glucose absorption in the small intestine and increases glucose uptake in the periphery. Voglibose, a synthetic α-glucosidase inhibitor, delays carbohydrate digestion and absorption. The combination of these three agents provides a synergistic effect in controlling hyperglycemia. Metviron Trio 1 Tablet ER is available in a once-daily extended-release formulation, allowing for more consistent blood glucose control throughout the day. This product is contraindicated in patients with type 1 diabetes, patients with a history of serious hypersensitivity reactions, and in those with liver disease or kidney impairment. As with all medications, patients should be closely monitored for signs of hypoglycemia, hyperglycemia, and other adverse effects.
