Metviron GZ Tablet is a fixed-dose combination product containing Gliclazide (80mg) and Metformin (500mg). This oral antidiabetic medication is indicated for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus, particularly in patients who are inadequately controlled by monotherapy or as combination therapy with insulin. Gliclazide, an sulfonylurea derivative, enhances insulin release and sensitizes peripheral tissues to insulin, thereby improving glucose tolerance.

Metformin, a biguanide, reduces glucose production in the liver and increases glucose uptake in the periphery, thereby reducing blood glucose levels. The combination of Gliclazide and Metformin provides a balanced approach to glucose regulation, offering improved glycemic control and reduced risk of hypoglycemia. Your ability to drive may be affected if your blood sugar is too low or too high. Do not drive if these symptoms occur.

Liver
Metviron GZ Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Metviron GZ Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor. Metviron GZ Tablet is generally started with low dose in patients with mild to moderate liver disease and its use is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease.
Regular Checkup
Breastfeeding
Metviron GZ Tablet is probably unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug may pass into the breastmilk and harm the baby.

Kidney
Metviron GZ Tablet should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Metviron GZ Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor. Use of Metviron GZ Tablet is, however, not recommended in patients with severe kidney disease. Regular monitoring of kidney function test is advisable while you are taking this medicine.
