Metsmall G 1mg/500mg Tablet is a fixed-dose combination of Glimepiride (1mg) and Metformin (500mg) indicated for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus, particularly in patients who are unable to achieve adequate glycemic control with metformin alone. Glimepiride, a sulfonylurea, enhances insulin secretion, while Metformin, a biguanide, increases glucose uptake in the peripheral tissues. This combination tablet works by synergistically increasing insulin sensitivity, enhancing glucose metabolism, and improving insulin secretion. Metsmall G is suitable for patients who are not achieving adequate glycemic control with metformin alone, and for those who are intolerant to metformin. It is also indicated for patients with type 2 diabetes who are at risk of developing cardiovascular disease. The recommended starting dose is 1 tablet once daily, with the option to increase to a maximum of 2 tablets once daily. Metsmall G is contraindicated in patients with severe kidney or liver impairment, and those with a history of hypoglycemia.
