Metsmall 1000 Tablet SR is a controlled-release oral antidiabetic medication indicated for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Each tablet contains 1000mg of metformin, a biguanide derivative, which exerts its therapeutic effect by reducing glucose production in the liver and improving insulin sensitivity. The sustained-release formulation allows for a gradual release of the active ingredient over an extended period, thereby providing a consistent therapeutic effect.

Metsmall 1000 Tablet SR is designed to improve glycemic control in patients with type 2 diabetes, and its once-daily dosing schedule simplifies treatment regimens. The product is contraindicated in patients with severe renal impairment, acute or chronic metabolic acidosis, and those taking medications that may increase the risk of lactic acidosis. As with all metformin products, Metsmall 1000 Tablet SR carries a risk of lactic acidosis, which is more common in patients with underlying conditions such as heart failure, respiratory failure, or sepsis.
Patients should be monitored regularly for signs and symptoms of lactic acidosis and discontinued if they occur.

Metsmall 1000 Tablet SR is generally considered safe to use during pregnancy. Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effects to the developing baby; however, there are limited human studies.

Metsmall 1000 Tablet SR should be used with caution during breastfeeding. Breastfeeding should be held until the treatment of the mother is completed and the drug is eliminated from her body.

Metsmall 1000 Tablet SR should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Metsmall 1000 Tablet SR may be needed. Please consult your doctor. Use of Metsmall 1000 Tablet SR is, however, not recommended in patients with severe kidney disease.

Your ability to drive may be affected if your blood sugar is too low or too high. Do not drive if these symptoms occur.
