Ornidazole, a synthetic imidazole derivative, has antimicrobial and antifungal properties, inhibiting the growth of a wide range of microorganisms, including Candida, Aspergillus, and Staphylococcus aureus. The gel is also effective against various skin fungi, including Malassezia, causing pityriasis versicolor. Metrogyl Plus Gel is well tolerated, with rare reports of skin irritation or allergic reactions.
It is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Ornidazole or any of the excipients. As with any medication, it is essential to follow the recommended dosage and duration of treatment, and to consult a healthcare professional if symptoms persist or worsen.
