Metmeh 1000 Tablet SR contains Metformin 1000 mg, an oral antihyperglycemic agent used primarily in the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Metformin belongs to the biguanide class and acts by decreasing hepatic glucose production, decreasing intestinal absorption of glucose, and improving insulin sensitivity by increasing peripheral glucose uptake and utilization. Metmeh 1000 Tablet SR is indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes, particularly in overweight patients or those inadequately controlled on diet alone. It may be used as monotherapy or in combination with other antidiabetic agents, including insulin. The medication should be administered with meals to minimize gastrointestinal discomfort.
Contraindications include renal impairment, metabolic acidosis, and conditions predisposing to hypoxia. Regular monitoring of renal function and glycemic parameters is recommended during therapy. Patients should be advised to maintain adequate hydration and report any symptoms suggestive of lactic acidosis, a rare but serious adverse effect. Metmeh 1000 Tablet SR offers an effective and well-tolerated option for long-term glycemic management in type 2 diabetes.

Metmeh 1000 Tablet SR should be used with caution during breastfeeding. Breastfeeding should be held until the treatment of the mother is completed and the drug is eliminated from her body.
