Mesalov 800 Tablet DR contains Mesalazine 800 mg, an anti-inflammatory agent primarily used in the treatment of inflammatory bowel diseases such as ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease. Mesalazine, also known as 5-aminosalicylic acid (5-ASA), acts locally on the colonic mucosa to reduce inflammation by inhibiting the production of pro-inflammatory mediators including prostaglandins and leukotrienes.

The delayed-release (DR) formulation ensures targeted delivery of the active ingredient to the distal small intestine and colon, enhancing therapeutic efficacy while minimizing systemic absorption and associated side effects. Mesalov 800 Tablet DR is indicated for inducing and maintaining remission in patients with mild to moderate ulcerative colitis and for managing symptoms of Crohn’s disease involving the colon.
The recommended dosage and duration of treatment should be individualized based on disease severity and patient response, under medical supervision. Common adverse effects may include headache, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea, though the drug is generally well tolerated. Caution is advised in patients with hypersensitivity to salicylates or mesalazine and in those with renal or hepatic impairment.
