Cloxacillin, a penicillinase-resistant penicillin, is particularly effective against penicillinase-producing staphylococci, thereby enhancing the overall efficacy of the combination. Megapen Capsule is indicated for the treatment of infections caused by susceptible strains, including respiratory tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, urinary tract infections, bone and joint infections, and septicemia.
The dual action of Ampicillin and Cloxacillin provides a synergistic effect, reducing the risk of resistance development and broadening the antibacterial spectrum. It is essential to use Megapen Capsule under medical supervision, with dosage adjusted according to the severity of infection, patient age, and renal function. Caution is advised in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to penicillins or cephalosporins.
