Mega-CV Forte 457mg Dry Syrup is a combination antibiotic formulation containing Amoxycillin 400mg and Clavulanic Acid 57mg per 5ml of reconstituted suspension. Amoxycillin, a broad-spectrum penicillin antibiotic, acts by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to cell lysis and death. Clavulanic Acid, a beta-lactamase inhibitor, protects Amoxycillin from enzymatic degradation by beta-lactamase-producing bacteria, thereby extending its spectrum of activity. This synergistic combination is effective against a wide range of aerobic and anaerobic Gram-positive and Gram-negative pathogens, making it suitable for the treatment of respiratory tract infections, otitis media, sinusitis, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and dental infections. The dry syrup formulation allows for easy reconstitution and precise dosing, particularly advantageous in pediatric and geriatric populations. Mega-CV Forte should be administered as prescribed, with the full course completed to prevent the development of resistance. It is contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to penicillins or beta-lactam antibiotics. Caution is advised in patients with hepatic or renal impairment. Common adverse effects include gastrointestinal disturbances such as diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting.
