Maxim D Eye Drop is a combination ophthalmic solution containing Moxifloxacin 0.5% w/v, a broad-spectrum fluoroquinolone antibiotic, and Dexamethasone 0.1% w/v, a potent corticosteroid. This formulation is indicated for the treatment of bacterial infections of the eye, including conjunctivitis and keratitis, where inflammation is also present. Moxifloxacin exerts its antibacterial effect by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, leading to the disruption of bacterial DNA replication and cell death.

Dexamethasone provides anti-inflammatory action by suppressing the release of inflammatory mediators, thereby reducing redness, swelling, and discomfort associated with ocular infections. Maxim D Eye Drop is typically prescribed for short-term use under medical supervision to prevent potential corticosteroid-related adverse effects such as increased intraocular pressure or secondary infections.
It is contraindicated in viral, fungal, or mycobacterial eye infections. Patients should be advised to avoid contamination of the dropper tip and to complete the full course of therapy to prevent resistance. Adverse effects may include transient burning or stinging upon instillation. Maxim D Eye Drop should be used with caution in patients with glaucoma or a history of corticosteroid sensitivity.
