Medical applications
Marzon Duo Tablet contains Sultamicillin tosilate 750 mg, a combination antibiotic comprising ampicillin and sulbactam in a prodrug form that enhances oral bioavailability. It is indicated for the treatment of infections caused by susceptible strains of aerobic and anaerobic bacteria. Sultamicillin exerts its antibacterial effect by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, while sulbactam acts as a beta-lactamase inhibitor, thereby extending the spectrum of ampicillin against beta-lactamase-producing organisms.
Marzon Duo Tablet is commonly prescribed for respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, otitis media, and intra-abdominal infections. The drug is generally well tolerated; however, adverse effects may include gastrointestinal disturbances such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and hypersensitivity reactions like rash or urticaria. Caution is advised in patients with a history of penicillin allergy, hepatic or renal impairment.
Dosage should be adjusted based on the severity of infection and renal function. It is essential to complete the full prescribed course to prevent the development of resistance. Marzon Duo Tablet should be used under medical supervision, with periodic monitoring for therapeutic efficacy and potential side effects.
