Mahacef-OZ Tablet is a combination antibiotic formulation containing Cefixime 200mg and Ornidazole 500mg, designed for the treatment of mixed bacterial and protozoal infections. Cefixime, a third-generation cephalosporin, exhibits broad-spectrum bactericidal activity by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, effective against a wide range of gram-positive and gram-negative pathogens. Ornidazole, a nitroimidazole derivative, targets anaerobic bacteria and protozoa by disrupting DNA synthesis and function, thereby exerting potent antiprotozoal and antibacterial effects. This synergistic combination is indicated for infections where both aerobic and anaerobic organisms are implicated, such as complicated urinary tract infections, gastrointestinal infections including amoebiasis, mixed respiratory tract infections, and certain sexually transmitted infections. Mahacef-OZ is particularly useful in cases where polymicrobial infections are suspected or confirmed. The tablet should be administered as prescribed by a healthcare professional, typically with or without food, maintaining adherence to the full course to prevent resistance development. Caution is advised in patients with known hypersensitivity to cephalosporins, nitroimidazoles, or any component of the formulation.
