Macpod CV 200 Tablet is a combination antibiotic formulation containing Cefpodoxime Proxetil 200 mg and Clavulanic Acid 125 mg, designed to treat a broad spectrum of bacterial infections. Cefpodoxime Proxetil, a third-generation cephalosporin, exhibits bactericidal activity by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, effectively targeting both Gram-positive and Gram-negative organisms. Clavulanic Acid, a beta-lactamase inhibitor, enhances the efficacy of Cefpodoxime by preventing enzymatic degradation of the antibiotic by beta-lactamase-producing bacteria, thereby extending its antimicrobial spectrum. This combination is indicated for the management of respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and otitis media caused by susceptible strains. Macpod CV 200 Tablet is particularly useful in infections where resistance to beta-lactam antibiotics is suspected or confirmed. The medication should be administered as prescribed, with dosage adjustments based on the severity of infection and renal function. Common adverse effects may include gastrointestinal disturbances such as diarrhea, nausea, and abdominal discomfort, while hypersensitivity reactions are rare but possible.
