Lyptomet Tablet contains a combination of Sitagliptin 50 mg and Metformin 1000 mg, formulated for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Sitagliptin is a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor that enhances the levels of incretin hormones, thereby increasing insulin release and decreasing glucagon secretion in a glucose-dependent manner. Metformin, a biguanide, primarily acts by reducing hepatic glucose production, improving insulin sensitivity, and enhancing peripheral glucose uptake. The synergistic action of these two agents helps achieve better glycemic control in patients inadequately controlled by diet, exercise, and monotherapy. Lyptomet is indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes.
