Lupisit 50mg Tablet contains Sitagliptin, a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor used in the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Sitagliptin works by enhancing the body's natural ability to regulate blood glucose levels through the inhibition of the DPP-4 enzyme, which results in increased levels of incretin hormones. These hormones stimulate insulin release from pancreatic beta cells and suppress glucagon secretion from alpha cells, thereby improving glycemic control.

Lupisit is indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes, either as monotherapy or in combination with other antidiabetic agents such as metformin, sulfonylureas, or insulin. The recommended dose is 50mg once daily, with or without food, and dosage adjustments may be necessary in patients with renal impairment. Common adverse effects include nasopharyngitis, headache, and upper respiratory tract infections, while hypoglycemia risk increases when combined with insulin or sulfonylureas.
Lupisit is contraindicated in patients with type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis. Regular monitoring of blood glucose and renal function is advised during therapy to ensure safety and efficacy.
