Lupisit 100mg Tablet contains Sitagliptin, a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor used primarily for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Sitagliptin works by enhancing the levels of incretin hormones, which increase insulin release from pancreatic beta cells and decrease glucagon secretion from alpha cells in a glucose-dependent manner. This dual action helps to improve glycemic control by reducing fasting and postprandial blood glucose levels.

Lupisit is indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes, either as monotherapy or in combination with other antidiabetic agents such as metformin, sulfonylureas, or insulin. The recommended dose is typically 100 mg once daily, with or without food, and dose adjustments may be necessary in patients with renal impairment.
Common adverse effects include nasopharyngitis, headache, and upper respiratory tract infections, while serious side effects are rare but may include pancreatitis and hypersensitivity reactions. Regular monitoring of blood glucose levels and renal function is advised during therapy. Lupisit should be used cautiously in patients with a history of pancreatitis and is not indicated for type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis.
