Lucipro 500mg Tablet contains Ciprofloxacin, a broad-spectrum fluoroquinolone antibiotic effective against a wide range of bacterial infections. It acts by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, enzymes essential for DNA replication, transcription, repair, and recombination, thereby preventing bacterial cell division and growth. Lucipro is indicated for the treatment of various infections caused by susceptible strains of bacteria, including urinary tract infections, respiratory tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, bone and joint infections, gastrointestinal infections, and certain types of infectious diarrhea.

The recommended dosage and duration of therapy depend on the severity and type of infection, patient age, renal function, and clinical response. It is essential to complete the full prescribed course to prevent the development of resistance. Lucipro should be used with caution in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to fluoroquinolones, tendon disorders, or central nervous system disorders.
Common adverse effects include gastrointestinal disturbances such as nausea, diarrhea, and abdominal pain, as well as potential central nervous system effects like dizziness and headache. It is contraindicated during pregnancy and lactation unless clearly necessary. Patients should avoid excessive exposure to sunlight due to photosensitivity risk.
