Lozapin is also utilized in reducing the risk of recurrent suicidal behavior in patients with schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder. The 25mg dosage allows for careful titration to minimize adverse effects, which may include agranulocytosis, seizures, myocarditis, sedation, hypersalivation, and orthostatic hypotension. Due to the risk of severe neutropenia, regular monitoring of white blood cell counts is mandatory during treatment.
Initiation and dose adjustments should be conducted under strict medical supervision with appropriate hematological monitoring. Clozapine is contraindicated in patients with a history of clozapine-induced agranulocytosis or severe granulocytopenia.
