Lotesol-M Eye Drop is a combination ophthalmic solution containing Loteprednol etabonate 0.5% w/v, a corticosteroid with potent anti-inflammatory properties, and Moxifloxacin 0.5% w/v, a broad-spectrum fluoroquinolone antibiotic. This formulation is indicated for the treatment of ocular inflammatory conditions where bacterial infection or risk of infection is present, such as postoperative inflammation following cataract surgery, bacterial conjunctivitis, and other inflammatory eye diseases complicated by bacterial infection. Loteprednol etabonate acts by inhibiting the release of inflammatory mediators, thereby reducing inflammation, edema, and pain, while Moxifloxacin exerts bactericidal activity by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, effectively targeting a wide range of gram-positive and gram-negative pathogens. Lotesol-M is generally well tolerated; however, patients should be monitored for potential corticosteroid-related side effects such as increased intraocular pressure, delayed wound healing, or secondary infections. It is contraindicated in viral, fungal, or mycobacterial ocular infections. Proper administration involves instilling the prescribed number of drops into the affected eye(s) as directed by an ophthalmologist. Use with caution in patients with glaucoma or a history of corticosteroid sensitivity.
