Lornirab-OD Tablet ER contains Lornoxicam 16 mg, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) belonging to the oxicam class, indicated for the management of pain and inflammation associated with musculoskeletal disorders such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and ankylosing spondylitis. Lornoxicam exerts its therapeutic effect by inhibiting the cyclooxygenase (COX-1 and COX-2) enzymes, thereby reducing the synthesis of prostaglandins, which are mediators of inflammation, pain, and fever. The extended-release (ER) formulation allows for a sustained plasma concentration, enhancing patient compliance by enabling once-daily dosing and minimizing peak-related adverse effects. Lornirab-OD Tablet ER is suitable for patients requiring prolonged anti-inflammatory and analgesic therapy. It should be administered with caution in individuals with a history of gastrointestinal ulcers, bleeding disorders, renal or hepatic impairment, and cardiovascular disease. Common adverse effects include gastrointestinal discomfort, nausea, dizziness, and headache, while serious adverse events such as gastrointestinal bleeding or renal dysfunction are rare but require immediate medical attention. Lornirab-OD should be used at the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration necessary to control symptoms. It is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to lornoxicam or other NSAIDs, during the third trimester of pregnancy, and in those with active peptic ulceration.
