Lizomed 600 Tablet contains Linezolid 600 mg, an oxazolidinone-class antibiotic indicated for the treatment of serious bacterial infections caused by susceptible Gram-positive pathogens. It is primarily used in the management of complicated skin and soft tissue infections, nosocomial and community-acquired pneumonia, and infections caused by multidrug-resistant organisms including methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus faecium (VRE).

Linezolid exerts its antibacterial effect by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis through binding to the 23S ribosomal RNA of the 50S subunit, thereby preventing the formation of the functional 70S initiation complex essential for the bacterial translation process. Lizomed 600 Tablet is administered orally, with excellent bioavailability, allowing effective systemic concentrations to be achieved.
It is important to adhere to the prescribed dosage and duration to minimize the risk of resistance development. Caution is advised in patients with a history of myelosuppression, and regular monitoring of blood counts is recommended during prolonged therapy. Potential adverse effects include gastrointestinal disturbances, headache, and reversible myelosuppression. Concomitant use with serotonergic agents requires careful monitoring due to the risk of serotonin syndrome.
