Livox 500 Tablet contains Levofloxacin 500mg, a broad-spectrum fluoroquinolone antibiotic effective against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacterial infections. It acts by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, enzymes essential for DNA replication, transcription, repair, and recombination, thereby preventing bacterial cell proliferation. Livox 500 is indicated for the treatment of respiratory tract infections such as community-acquired pneumonia, chronic bronchitis exacerbations, and sinusitis, as well as urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and prostatitis caused by susceptible organisms.

The tablet is administered orally, with dosage and duration tailored according to the severity and type of infection, renal function, and patient response. Caution is advised in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to fluoroquinolones, tendon disorders, or CNS conditions such as seizures. Common adverse effects may include gastrointestinal disturbances, headache, dizziness, and photosensitivity.
It is important to complete the full prescribed course to prevent bacterial resistance. Livox 500 should be used under medical supervision, with consideration of potential drug interactions, particularly with antacids, sucralfate, and multivitamins containing magnesium or aluminum, which may impair absorption. How to use Livox Tablet Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Livox 500 Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time. Avoid Livox 500 Tablet with dairy products such as milk, cheese, curd, butter, paneer and ice cream.
