Baclofen exerts its therapeutic effect by activating gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) B receptors in the central nervous system, leading to inhibition of excitatory neurotransmitter release and reduction of muscle spasticity and rigidity.

Liofen 5 is effective in alleviating muscle stiffness, spasms, and pain, thereby improving mobility and functional capacity in affected patients. The tablet is administered orally, with dosage individualized based on clinical response and tolerability, typically starting at a low dose and gradually titrated to minimize adverse effects. Common side effects include drowsiness, dizziness, weakness, and gastrointestinal disturbances; abrupt discontinuation should be avoided to prevent withdrawal symptoms such as hallucinations or seizures.
