Linzovin 600 Tablet contains Linezolid 600 mg, an oxazolidinone class antibiotic effective against a broad spectrum of Gram-positive bacterial infections. It is primarily indicated for the treatment of serious infections caused by susceptible strains of bacteria, including methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus faecium (VRE), and penicillin-resistant Streptococcus pneumoniae. Linzovin 600 is commonly prescribed for complicated skin and soft tissue infections, nosocomial pneumonia, community-acquired pneumonia, and infections caused by multidrug-resistant organisms. The mechanism of action involves inhibition of bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 23S ribosomal RNA of the 50S subunit, thereby preventing the formation of a functional 70S initiation complex essential for bacterial translation. This bacteriostatic agent demonstrates excellent oral bioavailability, allowing for both intravenous and oral administration with comparable efficacy. Dosage should be individualized based on the severity of infection, renal function, and patient response, typically administered twice daily for 10 to 14 days. Caution is advised in patients with a history of myelosuppression or serotonin syndrome, as Linezolid is a weak, reversible monoamine oxidase inhibitor. Common adverse effects include headache, diarrhea, nausea, and potential hematologic abnormalities; therefore, regular monitoring of blood counts is recommended during prolonged therapy.
