Linzon Tablet contains Linezolid 600 mg, an oxazolidinone-class antibiotic indicated for the treatment of serious bacterial infections caused by susceptible Gram-positive pathogens, including methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus faecium (VRE). It is primarily used to manage complicated skin and soft tissue infections, nosocomial and community-acquired pneumonia, and infections caused by multidrug-resistant organisms. Linezolid exerts its antibacterial effect by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis through binding to the 23S ribosomal RNA of the 50S subunit, thereby preventing the formation of the functional 70S initiation complex. Linzon Tablet is administered orally, with a recommended dosage of 600 mg every 12 hours, typically for 10 to 14 days, depending on the severity and type of infection. Caution is advised in patients with a history of myelosuppression, as Linezolid may cause reversible bone marrow suppression, including thrombocytopenia and anemia, particularly with prolonged use. It is contraindicated in patients receiving monoamine oxidase inhibitors due to the risk of serotonin syndrome. Common adverse effects include gastrointestinal disturbances, headache, and transient changes in liver enzymes. Monitoring of complete blood counts and clinical response is recommended during therapy to ensure safety and efficacy.
