Linowin 600mg Tablet contains Linezolid 600mg, an oxazolidinone-class antibiotic effective against a broad spectrum of gram-positive bacterial infections, including methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and vancomycin-resistant Enterococci (VRE). It functions by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis through binding to the 23S ribosomal RNA of the 50S subunit, thereby preventing the formation of the initiation complex essential for bacterial translation. Linowin is indicated for the treatment of complicated skin and soft tissue infections, community-acquired and nosocomial pneumonia, and infections caused by susceptible strains of bacteria where other antibiotics may be ineffective. The recommended dosage for adults is 600mg administered orally every 12 hours, with treatment duration depending on the severity and type of infection. Caution is advised in patients with a history of myelosuppression, as Linezolid may cause hematological adverse effects such as thrombocytopenia, anemia, and leukopenia, especially with prolonged use beyond two weeks. It is contraindicated in patients receiving monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) due to the risk of serotonin syndrome.
