Linospan 600 Tablet contains Linezolid 600 mg, an oxazolidinone-class antibiotic indicated for the treatment of serious Gram-positive bacterial infections, including methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus faecium (VRE). Linezolid exerts its bacteriostatic effect by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis through binding to the 23S ribosomal RNA of the 50S subunit, preventing the formation of the initiation complex. Linospan 600 is primarily used in managing complicated skin and soft tissue infections, nosocomial pneumonia, and community-acquired pneumonia caused by susceptible strains. The tablet is administered orally, typically twice daily, with or without food, as per the prescribing physician’s guidance. Caution is advised in patients with a history of myelosuppression, as prolonged therapy may result in hematologic adverse effects such as thrombocytopenia, anemia, or leukopenia. Additionally, Linezolid is a weak, reversible, non-selective monoamine oxidase inhibitor; therefore, concomitant use with serotonergic or adrenergic agents may increase the risk of serotonin syndrome or hypertensive crisis. Monitoring of complete blood counts is recommended during extended therapy. Linospan 600 should be used strictly according to susceptibility data and clinical judgment to minimize resistance development. It is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to Linezolid or any tablet excipients.
