Lingretin 5 Tablet contains Linagliptin 5 mg, a potent and selective dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor indicated for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Linagliptin works by enhancing the levels of incretin hormones, which increase insulin secretion and decrease glucagon release in a glucose-dependent manner, thereby improving glycemic control. Lingretin 5 is prescribed as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes, either as monotherapy or in combination with other antidiabetic agents such as metformin, sulfonylureas, or insulin.

The once-daily oral administration of Lingretin 5 provides convenience and promotes patient compliance. It is well tolerated, with a low risk of hypoglycemia when used as monotherapy or with agents not associated with hypoglycemia. Common adverse effects may include nasopharyngitis, headache, and upper respiratory tract infection, while serious side effects are rare. Linagliptin does not require dose adjustment in patients with renal impairment, making it suitable for a broad patient population.
