Linezolid exerts its antibacterial effect by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis through binding to the 23S ribosomal RNA of the 50S subunit, thereby preventing the formation of the initiation complex essential for bacterial translation. Linedizire-SR is formulated as a sustained-release tablet to provide prolonged therapeutic plasma concentrations, enhancing patient compliance by reducing dosing frequency. It is primarily indicated for complicated skin and soft tissue infections, nosocomial pneumonia, and other infections caused by susceptible strains of Gram-positive bacteria. The drug is administered orally, with dosing adjustments recommended in patients with renal or hepatic impairment. Common adverse effects include gastrointestinal disturbances, headache, and reversible myelosuppression; prolonged use may lead to peripheral and optic neuropathy or lactic acidosis.
