Linezolid (600mg)
Active composition
Linezolid binds to the 50S ribosomal subunit, inhibiting protein synthesis and bacterial growth.
Medical applications
Lineca Tablet contains Linezolid 600 mg, an oxazolidinone-class antibiotic indicated for the treatment of serious Gram-positive bacterial infections, including methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus faecium (VRE). Linezolid exerts its antibacterial effect by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis through binding to the 23S ribosomal RNA of the 50S subunit, thereby preventing the formation of the functional 70S initiation complex essential for bacterial translation. It is effective against a broad spectrum of aerobic and facultative Gram-positive pathogens, including Streptococcus pneumoniae and Staphylococcus aureus. Lineca is primarily used for complicated skin and soft tissue infections, nosocomial pneumonia, community-acquired pneumonia, and infections caused by resistant organisms where alternative treatments are limited. The tablet is administered orally, with a recommended dosage of 600 mg every 12 hours, adjusted based on the severity of infection and patient-specific factors. Linezolid is generally well tolerated; however, potential adverse effects include myelosuppression, peripheral and optic neuropathy with prolonged use, and serotonin syndrome when co-administered with serotonergic agents. Regular monitoring of blood counts is advised during extended therapy. Lineca Tablet should be prescribed and used under strict medical supervision to ensure efficacy and minimize resistance development.
