Linamac D 10mg/5mg Tablet is a fixed-dose combination medication containing dapagliflozin 10mg and linagliptin 5mg, indicated for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Dapagliflozin, a sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor, reduces renal glucose reabsorption, promoting glycosuria and thereby lowering plasma glucose levels. Linagliptin, a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor, enhances incretin hormone activity, increasing insulin secretion and decreasing glucagon release in a glucose-dependent manner.

This combination offers complementary mechanisms to achieve improved glycemic control in adults inadequately controlled by diet and exercise alone or in combination with other antidiabetic agents. Linamac D is administered orally once daily, with or without food. It is contraindicated in patients with type 1 diabetes, diabetic ketoacidosis, severe renal impairment, or hypersensitivity to any component.
Common adverse effects include urinary tract infections, nasopharyngitis, and hypoglycemia, particularly when used with insulin or sulfonylureas. Regular monitoring of renal function and glycemic parameters is recommended during therapy. Linamac D should be used cautiously in patients with cardiovascular disease or volume depletion. This combination therapy provides an effective option for optimizing glycemic control while potentially offering cardiovascular and renal benefits.
