Levotran 750 Tablet contains Levofloxacin 750 mg, a broad-spectrum fluoroquinolone antibiotic effective against a wide range of bacterial infections. It acts by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, enzymes essential for DNA replication, transcription, repair, and recombination, thereby preventing bacterial cell division and leading to cell death. Levotran 750 is indicated for the treatment of respiratory tract infections such as community-acquired pneumonia, chronic bronchitis exacerbations, and sinusitis, as well as urinary tract infections including complicated and uncomplicated cases, skin and soft tissue infections, and prostatitis. It is also used in the management of certain gastrointestinal infections caused by susceptible bacteria. The tablet is administered orally, with dosage and duration depending on the severity and type of infection. Caution is advised in patients with a history of tendon disorders related to fluoroquinolone use, those with CNS disorders, or renal impairment, as dosage adjustments may be necessary. Common adverse effects include gastrointestinal disturbances, headache, dizziness, and photosensitivity. Serious but rare side effects include tendon rupture, QT prolongation, and hypersensitivity reactions.
