Ornidazole, a nitroimidazole derivative, is effective against anaerobic bacteria and protozoa by causing DNA strand breakage and inhibiting nucleic acid synthesis. This dual-action tablet is indicated for mixed infections involving aerobic and anaerobic organisms, including respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, gastrointestinal infections such as amoebiasis and giardiasis, and certain gynecological infections.
Levosef-OZ offers enhanced antimicrobial coverage, making it suitable for complicated infections where polymicrobial etiology is suspected. The medication should be used under medical supervision, with dosage adjustments based on infection severity, renal function, and patient response. Common adverse effects may include gastrointestinal disturbances, headache, dizziness, and hypersensitivity reactions.
