Levolink Oral Suspension contains Levofloxacin 125 mg per 5 mL and is a broad-spectrum fluoroquinolone antibiotic indicated for the treatment of various bacterial infections. It is effective against a wide range of gram-positive and gram-negative pathogens, including respiratory tract infections such as community-acquired pneumonia, acute bacterial sinusitis, and chronic bronchitis exacerbations. Additionally, it is utilized in the management of uncomplicated urinary tract infections and skin and soft tissue infections. Levofloxacin exerts its antibacterial effect by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, enzymes critical for DNA replication, transcription, repair, and recombination, leading to bacterial cell death. The oral suspension formulation allows for ease of administration, particularly in pediatric and geriatric populations or patients with swallowing difficulties. Dosage should be individualized based on the severity of infection, patient age, renal function, and susceptibility of the causative organism. Common adverse effects may include gastrointestinal disturbances, headache, dizziness, and photosensitivity. Caution is advised in patients with a history of tendon disorders, QT prolongation, or central nervous system disorders.
